It's pretty cool having built up enough history and rapport with my local LGS to be considered "a regular" there. We stopped in last Saturday, not really looking to buy anything...just wanted to hang out and see what was there. Katie ended up starting paperwork on a pistol that she had never considered, but felt right in her hand (I'll let her brag about that herself). The owner said to me, "I've been able to find a distributor with ONE Ruger carbine that should be showing up later this week. I know you wanted one, so I'll hold it for you if you are still interested." I offered to put a deposit on it, but he said he'd just hold it for me :party29: I have no doubt he could have sold it many times over before I got there.

It's heavier than I expected, but I like that...it really feels solid. The sights line up like it was made for my natural shooting position. We may put an optic on it eventually. The plan is we'll share this one for a while, till Katie buys her own. Hopefully by then the American mag well adapters will be back in stock. For now, we've got enough Glock mags (her preferred platform )

I don't understand why Ruger keeps changing their mags. :mad54: The Security/SR9 mag that came with it is sooooo close to the American. I really think a little careful Dremel work where the catch catches could make them work for either firearm...but Ruger mags are just too damned expensive to go hacking on :o

    High on the want list

Be prepared to do some upgrades.
Over sized charging handle because the factory one is ridiculously small.
Over sized mag release because the factory is to small.
Replace the safety lever because the factory one hits your finger in the most annoying way possible.
Still need to do a trigger job because the factory trigger pull is about a 9 lb. pull
Other than that I have had a lot of fun with it :)

Still missing something on this Sub2K. Thinking of adding a blender, an espresso machine, maybe a way to make paninis, and a shoehorn. And a bottle opener. And a WiFi hotspot.

Does the optic move when reassembling?

Yes! The red dot unit is mounted on an extension so it can clear the folded stock. The top of the mount has a detented swivel with a strong spring so it can get out of the way and then return to zero. That also allows it to be out of the way if you’d rather use the iron sites.

In laws stopped in and I borrowed their camera to take a couple pics of my CMMG Banshee. Don't know why they came out dark but they did.
