I would appreciate opinions on .223 cases shorter than 1.750." How much less than 1.750" do you load cases for accurate distance shooting?
What length case less than 1.750" do you load, but only for informal range use? And what length do you consider too short to load at all? Thanks.

The critical feature is head-space, and that is based on the shoulder.
After that, if you believe that case length is critical to accuracy, you trim all cases the same.
SAAMI case length for the industry is 1.730-1.760".

If I'm doing accuracy I trim all to 1.75, but if I have shorter ones say like 1.73-1.74 they can go for plinking loads. But my COAL stays the same.
