All DC has to do is remove the ban on concealed carry for unprohibited persons who can legally possess a gun. The pressure to overturn their gun laws would then go away. They'd keep their open carry ban, restricted areas, assault weapons ban, machine gun capacity ban, resident registration requirement, etc......Simple, right? But no. Being the corrupt little leftists they are, they'll go to their graves restricting the rights of lawful citizens and doing their best to protect their criminal enterprises.

...while they enjoy the privilege of public and private armed protection from the people they purportedly represent.

I just completed the thought for you. It illustrates just one of life's little ironies.

All around a great bill. I suggest people contact Rubio's office to suggest some minor changes:

    a) Permitting licensed long-gun carry by editing
amending sec. 22–4505(a), D.C. Code to read:
    (7) Any person carrying a firearm who holds—
“(A) a valid license issued under section 6; or
“(B) any out-of-state license, as defined in section 1.”.
(huge for anyone in DC who hunts outside of the city and only has street parking)

    and

    b) Adding protections to those making short stops in the District by further revising
SEC. 4B. for unlicensed individuals to permit stops for gas, lodging, or food, where the firearm does not leave the vehicle.
(so you aren't ensnared by the District if you stop for gas ala. NJ)
