You can travel with it in a car or fly with it if you check it as luggage. Airlines have their own procedures but it can be done. I researched flying and checking it and don't recall where the thread was. I think shipping via UPS was another suggestion but many UPS facilities may not allow it for outgoing (if they know about it). There are some things like shipping from yourself to yourself that hunters will do when mailing firearms on a hunting trip.
I would expect that once you purchase it out of state, it is yours. How you transport it would be a general firearms question which you can ask on other sections.
Couple purchases I made out of state, I drove it back of course.

    Got packet but no license

I was waiting for my license and then one day the packet showed up. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it possible my wife tossed it by accident? I emailed the ATF asking for confirmation that they sent it today so I will see about that later.

I had posted pic of what the envelope looks like.
I almost tossed mine out cause it looked like another piece of junkmail I'd just opened

This actually helped me NOT trash mine. After seeing the envelope in your post I told my wife not to throw anything out addressed to me. So for 90 days all the junk mail just waited for my stamp of approval. Now it business as usual. Also watch the return addy. That's what clued me in to what it was when it arrived.

Here is a zoomed in better look at the return address.
Not the BATFE, but FFLC is what you are looking for.

Hey guys, thanks for the help! I did email them today as stated above and they responded by telling me they would print and send me another copy. Very quick response IMO. I'll have to look a little better at the mail this time.

    C&R possibilities

 Thinking about getting the C&R. If I missed this in the thread I apologize. If a 50 year old gun is Ok with the ATF, will it be OK to buy here, in the Socialist Republic of O'Maryland? How about the description of the "scary" gun here. Will that cause me concern if I were to attempt to purchase something "C&R" that fits the scary description? :fingerscrossed:

C&R rifles in MD (intrastate) are FTF (with or without a C&R FFL). Federal NICS only if bought at a dealer. The rifle must pass the new copycat test and not be on the ban list. C&R handguns in MD (intrastate) must go through a MD FFL dealer (no HQL, check off C&R handgun exemption box at top of new 77r form).

Thanks. The copycat test, Hmmm. I would think a copycat gun would be newer than a 50 year old gun. I haven't figured anything out yet. I just starting bouncing the C&R thing around recently.

So you're a "not to far to the left'. Once upon a Democrat didn't used to be a naughty word. Until the Socialist hijacked the party. Can't speak to highly of the Republicans of late either. I'm center right.

    Thanks again.

Copycat test and/or banned list apply to C&R-era items like a vintage SKS converted to removable magazines and a French MAS 49 with grenade launcher and flash hider. No doubt there are others. You have to be careful now about what you buy as C&R, since the onus is on the buyer as much as the seller.

Thanks again. I guess I'll need to do my homework. I've been reading Military Surplus. Nice publication. It rekindled my desire for the old technology. Been reading up on Civil War era munitions as well.
