Repeated use of "colonies" and "colonists" in 1814 is completely incorrect. I'm also questioning whether Sgt. Joe Friday has something against the Irish. He refused to acknowledge the "Mc" in "Fort Henry".
If the part about dead bodies propping up the flag is correct, I've never heard of it.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, what did you think of the play?

agreed on the inaccuracies of the OP video. Im not trying to pee in anyone's patriotic cornflakes but the real story is truly impressive on its own and deserves to be defended against inaccuracies.

Here are a few other noted inaccuracies.

The "prisoners" mentioned and the drawing of the sailors taken captive might be alluding to the impressment of American sailors into service in the Napoleonic wars by the british. This was one of the major reasons cited by the Americans for declaring war on the british.

FSK sailed under a truce flag to the british fleet already moored outside of the port of Baltimore to secure the release of Dr William Beanes. He watched the bombardment from the truce ship.

Having personally helped hoist and take down due to increasing winds(both a multi person task) the 30x42 ft. replica of the star spangled banner that was flown after the battle, it would be a mythological feat to hold up the flag pole by hand. There would not be enough space around the pole for enough people to fit. The original flag pole's supporting cross beam that was buried deep in the earth is on display at the fort. That is what held the flag pole up and it is how the exact location of the flag is known.

Also, only 4 defenders were killed at Ft. McHenry during the bombardment. There weren't a pile of bodies.

They did however sit tight manning their guns during a 24 hour bombardment by the strongest navy in the world at the time. That i believe is the heroic part. The bomb shelters seen at the fort entrance as seen today, did not exist during the bombardment.

I'll stop here and yield to recommencing patriotic fervor.

Thanks for the encouragement Minuteman. I'm just parroting what I learned from people like Scott S Sheads who has worked at Ft. McHenry for about as long as I have been alive. He and others do the research from original docs. for the most accurate history interpretation.

Thank you, I will look into that.

By the by, what have you to contribute to this theme, and overarching spirit of celebrating America?

Looking forward to your continued contributions.

Shoot, that's the lap of luxury right there. Remember a few rides across the pond in a C-141, sitting on the old cargo net seats. Pretty uncomfortable after 15 hours or so. Then again, there were a couple of deployments with a fresh 2.5cc payload of gamma globulin in each cheek. Those square openings would've provided empty space for the tender areas on our backsides ... embrace the suck, BOHICA!

The 141's were even luxury compared to the C-47 hard seats and the C-130's with the cargo nets and no room to move!

    Well Done MM. :patriot:
