Looking to prepare my 10/22 for an eventual .22 suppressor and was going to send these guys my trigger anyway.

    Brimstone Gunsmithing Barrel Shroud

Basically, cut the barrel to 12", add a 4.1" barrel shroud, pinned and soldered.

Just wondering if anyone has anything like this, doesn't matter the caliber, just if it's legal.

    Thanks.

    First, I don't have one
Second, should be legal by definition (IANAL).
Third, not a bad idea. (but what is the velocity of a 22 LR from a 12" barrel?)

next, I am very surprised someone has not tried this for the AR market ... weld the hand guard to the barrel having special tool to remove gas block with holes for access to pins. Accuracy of a non-free float barrel is in question??

But if you did this yourself, wouldn't you be in possession of an illegal firearm as soon as you cut the barrel down to 12 inches?

As long as the barrel isn't on the rifle yes it would be legal. They make 10/22 pistols. You can remove the barrel from the 10/22 pistol and that is completely legal. Kind of like AR pistols vs AR rifles. I had an AR pistol upper for a couple weeks before I was able to build the lower. Not illegal without tax stamp until I placed that pistol upper on a rifle lower (which never happened).
