Absolute BS. I have ADD like nobody's business (actually diagnosed through medical and psychiatric tests, not just some pediatrician throwing ritalin at kids) and not only does this sh*t infuriate me from the standpoint of justice, but it also infuriates me from the standpoint of it being yet another instance where some crackpot waters down the legitimacy of those who actually have the disorder. That judge needs to be removed from the trial for this crap.

Yeah, he needs to be taken off the streets for a long while, and soon before he hurts anyone else or turns 18. DJS should have interviened earlier and for longer. There are longer-term programs for juveniles to help, rather than just slap him on the wrist until 18 and then possibly pay for 3 hots and a cot.

There's definetly something going on in his head but that's no excuse for any of the behavior listed.

Prosecutors reminded the judge that Abedi — who is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 245 pounds — “selected small boys to victimize” and was “laughing” while wielding the wooden broomstick in the freshman locker room on Halloween Day.

... MCPS had given Abedi 11 suspensions, 61 disciplinary referrals and sent 141 communications home regarding poor conduct. The transgressions included sexual comments, inappropriate touching, threatening remarks, fights, and chronic class cutting.

School leaders determined the teen was so prone to acting out that he needed to be kept in class until the end of each passing period. That helped limit the number of hallway distractions. An adult escort was also recommended as an alternative option for Abedi to safely move from class to class.

MCPS explained that it repeatedly recommended Abedi be placed in an alternative public high school. Those recommendations were made during sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades. Abedi’s mother, however, refused to sign the necessary paperwork to complete the transfer. MCPS claimed Abedi’s mother also failed to attend a meeting for the Child In Need of Supervision (CINS) program.

... but he has low self-esteem and ADHD ... so it's not his fault and everyone else should make accommodations for him.

Yeah, the students at this high school need to endure another 2-3 years of this "child" before he gets turned loose on society in general. Hopefully, then they'll have the balls to put him somewhere where he can play in the shower with those of his own dispositions.

Not sure which one of the four this guy is, but my understanding is he was transferred here to Damascus after being expelled from from either Clarksburg or Gaithersburg. Kind of thought expelled meant gone, not just made someone else's problem.

Well, it souds like they have protocol in place to have the kid placed in an environment where he can hopefully succeed but it was denied by mom.

Why was a kid with those disaplinary problems aloud to play on a team sport?

I know the answer to that but it used to grades and behavioral issues would get you booted from a team in no time.

The school that all the messed up kids went to when we were growing up was Mark Twain. We called them "Twainiacs".

The kid is obviously messed up. Anyone that does egregious acts is. That doesn't make them less of a criminal. Appropriate punishments and treatment are in order...away from society.
