    Gents,

I openly admit this handgun will far outperform my competence for many years to come. Far more importantly, it is from my friend who recently passed from cancer.

I was getting it serviced at my FFL (can’t have firearms where I live - yeah...I know). In any case, the guys behind the counter mentioned it said Germany on the P226. Is that in any way significant? I started to Google and my eyes crossed after about 10 minutes of going down rabbit holes.

    Serial starts with U 621 * * *

Thank you in advance for the gift of your knowledge and expertise!

It's worthless. I'll give you $50 for it.

j/k. I don't see a proof mark on the slide. Could be proof marks and date code on the barrel. That will tell you more about "desirability" of the Sig.

"Made in Germany" instead of "Made in W. Germany" dates it to after 1995. Is there a German proof mark after the end of the serial number where you blacked it out? The lack of a German proof would mean this is a parts made in Germany, but assembled in New Hampshire gun.

    Thanks 2ndCharter!

I’ll take a look. Either way - I suspect my first statement remains correct: this thing will shoot better than me :D

No mark after the serial string. Okay - that makes sense: parts from Germany and assembled in USA.

Thank you for helping me get an appropriate context, -Z/28-!

    Heheh,

Thanks for the offers, gents. Seeing as this was my buddy’s weapon (the first he ever bought), I’ll be holding onto it.

Since his passing, I feel a strong desire to continue his love of the shooting sports. Guess I need to start blocking off my weekends for trips up to the AGC in Marriottsville.
