That's probably not terribly out of line, if it's genuine.

Lots of Elvis and guns stories out there, including Hamburger James trying to escape and the Memphis Mafia running through the Vegas airport to stop him.

E shooting flashbulbs in his pool.
E shooting out a TV.
E showing up at the whitehouse with a gift for Nixon...a gun.
E going on ride-alongs with police.
E getting a badge from Nixon.

One thing Elvis did not have was taste. Just visit Graceland for evidence...shag carpet, baby! What he did have was a sense that he needed protection and so often carried a pistol. It is rumored that it even happened on stage. And its not like there weren't people out to get him because he go many threats.

Strangely, he saw illegal drugs as a huge problem while not paying much attention to his own addiction to prescription meds.

Gotta love how fame messes with people's lives. And that gun is fugly
