Looking for some help here. I cannot get the lock to engage on gas tube latch on my Saiga 308. I have made sure that the tube is as far forward as possible and still cannot get the latch to engage. I am doing my best to not force it. I am also afraid if I continue to force it I'll gall the end of the tube. Any ideas?

    GOT IT!

The secret is to use the cleaning tool that comes with the rifle. There is a slot in the tool that the lever fits in and makes it easier to rotate.

My google-fu was weak on this question. I did finally find the answer buried on the Saiga-12 forums. Thanks.

Pictures of the completed conversion to follow on another thread.

On my saiga ak, you have to pull the gas tube backwards toward the butt of the rifle after pushing it all the way down. It is a very small amount but it was the difference.
