Yeah, that frustrating. Did the heating, saw the oil ooze out, hit it with a punch, no luck. About to go dremel on this thing. Buggered just below the dovetail trying to get it out. Secured the barrel in a vise wrapped in several layers of microfiber towels. Barrel did not spin. Waiting on MDS support.

Clamp it in a vise between two wood blocks so you don't lose any energy. There might be a little protrusion on the bottom of the insert. Strike it squarely with a brass punch from left to right. If the blow is directed downwards, that little protrusion could be making the dovetail collapse inwards holding the insert more firmly not allowing it to slide.
A sight pusher may help but if you decide to slice it, I would use a precision hand saw instead of a powered cut off wheel so the wheel doesn't hit the band. Just because it's round and high rpm's.

How big of a punch are you using? That may seem like a stupid question but when I first started modifying my guns I always used small diameter punches in order to not mark up the receivers. I finally discovered that using the largest diameter punch possible (even if it only partially was on the sight) did a much better job of transferring the energy into moving the sight.

Pretty much what you said. I went small (1/3 the dovetail), then said f-it, and went almost the narrow width of the dovetail.

Picked up some wood, and will try again tonight.

Some dovetails are tighter than others. If it is a tight fit, take a few file strokes on the bottom of the sight, corner to corner criss-cross to keep it true. This will narrow it a bit to avoid using damaging excessive force.
