You might want to check out these two - serial numbers 1 and 2.
A bargain BOGO at only $1,750,000.

Good thing they are not heavy barrel varmints or I'd be tempted.

Not too hard to find

Perry County in Millerstown, PA just above Harrisburg has a 243 Target.
The difference between the Target is the target has a heavy target stock with the wide forend and rail, smooth straight pistol grip, the Varmint has a standard type sporter stock with the barrel channel opened wide and no screw in the forend.
When Walter's went out of business the last gun he had for sale was a 243 Varmint. Walter's on Harford RD was the main place to find pre64 70's around here. Most varmints if not all had stainless steel barrels. Pre64 70's are hard to sell in MD but popular in PA. The 243 varmint is not hard to find, nearly every gun show in PA will have one. For some odd reason though they always have a recoil pad added. Most you'll find are made around 59-60 with plastic butt plates. 220 Swifts are harder to find, Perry County had one a few weeks ago.
If you come across a varmint in a different caliber and it has the screw in the forend then it was a special order. I've seen a few in 270, 06, 257.

Greg is fair and honest. I sold most of my collection to him when I retired.

Shuman's is good people

Brian McGee and his father Dick are good people to deal with also. They have short hours though so call ahead. I've dealt with them a good bit, always a pleasure.
Dugan's in Hancock used to have some 70's from his personal collection but the prices always seemed a bit high.
