Middletown is a mess right now. It's painful to live here. It takes like 20 minutes to get to the Safeway a mile and a half away. I like John Miller but he needs to go along with the barber. They're in way over their heads with this bs on the roads.

As for development, the guy from Admar has had the town in his hip pocket too long now.

I used to be on the Board of Zoning Appeals. I got to know the commissioners fairly well. They are all in over their heads ... period. And the Planning/Zoning board is out of control.

For fairness sake, they have little to do with the road - that is a SHA project.

The water work (east of 17) is town.

There were hysterics getting signatures around Middletown to keep the compressor station from being built. Citing noise and danger of explosion. Driving near the location I can't hear a thing. I assume it was built.

I thought the gas company offered big cash to Myersville?

Oh they did offer big cash to Myersville and they couldn't say no with the way the fire hall deal went.

I honestly don't think it's much of a bother at all, it's not loud and can barely see it.

true, but they gave the money to the SHA who is the project manager. The town funds it but doesn't manage it.

I hope my house is completed and I'm moved before they start on my section of Main St.

I live between Frederick and Middletown, kids go to school in Middletown. Middletown could be a lot worse, take a drive down to Urbana.......

At least Urbana has 4 lane roads from the HS to 270. But not much else other than massive commercial explosion.

Personally the Alt-40 road project should have happened a long time ago.

I agree. Complaining about govt inefficiencies, excess, and sadly corruption is futile. This thread was started because I wanted to figure out how to save some cash by prepaying taxes and DA has been attacking me about it, unsolicited, ever since. I had enough. Especially since I knew the inside and out of the tax system save the prepaying option or lack thereof.

You can appeal your valuation. You don't have to do what I did, go all lawyer on them and confront them in person. My last appeal, I felt it was robbery and wanted to see their reactions when I called them out on it. Twisted entertainment, I guess. You can write to them but my results have increased by going to the office. When you are face to face with them they capitulate because they know how criminal they are being and I think they feel a little guilty about it. There is one older blonde lady who is much more sympathetic than the younger ones. Not a shock there. I have left and come back when she was away to get the biggest reduction I could.

I haven't attacked you. I started trolling you, just recently. I knew you would start foaming at the mouth over the slightest little thing. See, I pick up on patterns, and well, observing you has show that you whine a lot and go off for the slightest reason.

As for going after the county employees the way you have, it seems as if they are well within their right for hanging up on you. They aren't being paid to take that kind of abuse, nor should they.

You also need to stop confusing that your property taxes are not county taxes, but since you live in the town of Myersville and have to pay town property taxes. But that right there is a fact that you conveniently leave out of your rabid foaming. Also the tax rate is different between municipalities and county. I have told you this, yet you start quoting MD statute, FredCo statute, but you don't put up the statute for the town of Myersville. Pretty disingenuous if you ask me.

Don’t know where the senior housing is but they’re building the crap out of the farmland with Ryan Homes building $400K and up homes in their new development. With one way in/out! And when they all go up alt40 to get on 70 forget about it!

It is off your picture. It will be up Coblentz. The rub is, again, one way in and out on Coblentz. The town wants to buy out the farmer that is west of Coblentz but he/she said no. Their plan is to extend a road west so traffic will have 2 ways in and out. Traffic is going to suck hard but they don't start construction until 2024. By the time it is fully built I'll be long gone but it isn't fair to the residents that live near the HS.

Try reading my posts again. Clearly you didn't the first time. I don't live in Myersville and haven't left out anything. I know more about the tax rates then you could ever imagine. I put it out in distinct fashion for you to understand. Obviously, you don't care and are just being a jerk.

    You're a real class act.

From what I remember they were talking about a Rt 40 bypass around Middletown in the early 90's as well as an interchange at Hollow rd & rt 70.
Neither one has come to fruition.

I heard about that barber about 10 years ago. What is up with that place? A neighbor told me he went in there and the barber told him to leave. Said, "He didn't take new clients." He told me it was truly bizarre.

As long as development exceeds infrastructure we will continue with this problem. The thought of “affordable housing” is nothing more than everyone else subsidizing that affordable housing. Allowing development without requiring the developer to upgrade highways, schools, fire protection, water, sewer and on and on just gets us farther in the hole.

Mine are $4472 unless they go up (again) anytime soon.

The fact is, Frederick has grown by leaps and bounds since I moved here in 2011 (when I was paying only $3330 per year) and it's not unreasonable to expect taxes to increase in the wake of such growth during the past 7 years. More people = more burden on local government. It sucks but, I understand the reasons. My property value has increased by nearly 4.5% since 2012 for what that's worth.
actually, it is unreasonable. More people = more tax base. No reason we should be paying more

More people = more emergency services, more trash pickup, more stress on infrastructure, etc.

It is reasonable...to me and $57 more per month isn't going to bankrupt anybody.

The reason it bothers me is because of stories like I posted about Chuck trying to help the homeless person. $1 or $57 is goes into a pit of waste where it should could go to help people. There is no reason why govt can't have efficiencies and accountability.

I regularly give to veteran charities after seeing my sister-in-law having to deal with the VA but even then those charities have the same problems Chuck had in the story. It sickens me. There isn't any other institution that should be 100% capable than the VA. The fault lands at the feet of the people who work in govt. Call it a broken system but a system is made up of the people and every time I was with her, at the different VA hospital's, I encountered a ton of uncaring lazy people. It was absolutely maddening. Every July when I have to write that check to the govt. I think about those crappy nurses and staff. If I ever acted like these people, at my work, I'd be fired in an instant.

Just received our annual bill. It's up 10% form last year, and is just shy of $5k. (We're in a moderate home on 1.3ac in an Ag-zoned area.)

I guess somebody has to pay for the infrastructure improvements to support Monrovia Town Center ... it's not dead yet.

Yep, mine is now up to over $5300. It's up over $300 from last year. More than double from when we bought our house in the beginning of 2001.

If you applied for the homestead credit then at 10% they should be limiting your increase. You would have had to apply when you purchased the house.
