    The old colt cobras, agents, detective specials....They lacked the modern transfer bars and firing pins were mounted on the hammer. writers mention this, but don’t mention their lack of being safe like they do the SAA ( load 5 and keep the hammer over an empty chamber). What can anyone say about whether these old snubbies were safe or not safe to carry.

    They're just as safe. No question a transfer bar is theoretically safer but is the real world there's little difference. Millions of revolvers with rebounding hammers have been made and they're perfectly safe as long as you do your job with safe gun handling habits...and that goes for all firearms.

    Gun writers have to have something to write about...and that includes shilling for gun makers to sell the latest gun with the newest doodads on it.
