I think you can find semi auto conversions in some European countries, but they're not US legal.

That's not an SKS and it doesn't operate like an SKS. It's also select fire so good luck with that.

Yep, only way they're getting into the US is as parts kits with destroyed receivers and barrels. They also couldn't come directly from China either, and the ATF will probably want documentation that it's been outside of China for a while.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't type 63's select fire? They operate with a rotating bolt like an AK, and not a tilting block like an SKS.

Edit: you guys beat me to the punch

My recollection is that a few semi-auto Type 63s were imported to the US before the Chinese import ban. They are extremely rare, to say the least. They also don't take AK mags, so the mag situation is kinda dire. Not sure I'd use one for a shooter.

As an aside, the SKS-D / SKS-M is the SKS that takes AK mags, and is what MD law explicitly bans. These are not quite as amazing as you'd think - they tend to be picky about magazines, lack the SKS' built-in LRBHO, and locking in the mags is not an intuitive process. But, admittedly, once you're past that, they work alright.

Are you sure you aren't thinking about the Type 81? A few of those came in.
