This afternoon, Hillbilly Grandpa, Deep Lurker and I crashed a “Meet The Candidates” event where Gun Control was TOPIC A.

The townhall was put on in Pasadena MD by District 31 candidate Karen Simpson, who invited other fellow traveller candidates to address what they they euphemistically call “gun safety”.

Dramacrat-candidate-for-governor Ben Jealous was invited but sent his Lt. governor running mate to speak. AG Brian Frosh was invited but he sent his SISTER!

The host said that she considered inviting 2A folks to add balance but admitted later that the gun haters complained so much she abandoned the plan.

Well, that sounds a job for the 2A Party Crashers.

Deep Lurker and I attended in the open with our PP sport shirts, and Hillbilly Grandpa went “plainclothes” and sat apart from us.

Long story short....it was the typical word salad of blaming guns, and blaming politicians for not advancing even more gun regulation. As expected Moms Demands Action blathered on and on about “being gun owners ourselves”... who just want to regulate them until they are useless, or unavailable. (Shocked face)

    More play by play below...

Hillbilly Grandpa finding his seat, as Deep Lurker sizes up seating. The room was eventually half full.

This is the organizer, Karen Simpson, who calls herself a survivor of domestic violence designed to kill her, and a rape victim by way of being drugged.

This was a feckless candidate for Anne Arundel County executive, who made a crack about the current county executive being “a little Trump”.

He announced that he had no solutions to offer about gun violence, but said we should be following the leadership of the teenagers attempting to lead the gun ban movement.

He then said “the problem is with the electorate!” and then was roundly applauded by “the electorate” sitting in front of him.

When confronted after the seminar by Deep Lurker about his elitism, he then explained that “the role of political leaders is to educate voters” about how to vote— while listening to children.

    What a clown show.

And what a treat… Maryland Attorney General Bryan Frosh could not be bothered to attend, so we were in luck – – he sent his sister!

She just screeched about gun control just like her brother would have, only in a singsong voice…

I requested, and was given a chance to speak, and politely challenged my audience about allowing the MGA to fritter away their time—and our money—on Gun Control schemes that violate the Constitution—a process that wastes even MORE money when MD govt is sued in court.

I raised the issue of the dumb time waster No Fly No Buy legislation, when MD has so many REAL issues.

No surprise then, that after bashing politicians and their unattainable “wish lists” (and the voters who support them) I sat down as the only person not to be applauded....DUH!

But a few asked questions before I took my seat, and I wasn’t booed, so winning!

Too bad that wasn't Frosh standing there. It would be your ticket to open carry a rifle in Chevy Chase..

Then, Hillbilly Grandpa asked for and got his chance to speak and he gave a real stemwinder!

Appearing at this round table as someone who might be regarded as an “honest broker” he questioned how any political discussion could have any validity when it is so one-sided – – so basically he was joining me in scolding them, LOL. (Look at their faces!).

Amusingly, he did get some applause, but only after Deep Lurker broke the stony silence with some applause that prompted the others to applaud.

That look on the Lutheran minister’s face was triggered by Hillbilly Grandpa questioning whether the church still prepared to acknowledge evil in the world, or only focus on the inanimate object.

Steam coming off the Rev’s head....

And if you think that it looks like HG is sticking his finger in the good Reverend’s ear, you’re not the only one!

Hillbilly Grandpa did bring his flyer, ready to talk about Wendi’s Law (see the thread of the same name), but he did not get a chance to hold it up and discuss it, so maybe next time...

Watching R&R assume his professorial role as he schooled the "class" on the components of effective legislative process made listening to the collective serial utterings on how to build castles in the sky worth it. It was beautiful.
