Anyone have any experience with the Rock River Arms A2 free float handguard kit? Building an A2 clone but looking to put in some upgrades along the way and this kit popped up. Would I need a special barrel nut? Will a normal gas tube work? This is what I have so far.

The free-float DCM style forends I have used came with their own hardware - barrel nut assembly (actually the tube), end cap, sling swivel... You'll have to dismount the FSB and remove the GI sling swivel, etc..

Might be better to get a Daniel Defense style free-float forend that "clamshells" and clamps over your existing barrel nut and allows installation without so much disassembly.

I've installed two of this RRA part number ITEM #: AR0127.
Actually, several companies sell the same one with their brand name on it. White Oak, Fulton....
You remove flash suppressor and front sight base then unscrew the barrel nut. The tube comes with a new nut which the tube screws onto.
You will most likely need to bend your gas tube a little to make it clear at the front sight, but you can reuse yours.
Here is a link to an install with pictures.
