Once more, if you see a deer, just walking,
get your sights at the opening, wait for the nice open shot,
when the deer come near your crosshairs
    say
    "Baaah" (like a sheep)
the deer will stop, look at you, you will fire.
Thank me later. A quick whistle works as well.
    Do not delay in firing.

    a meaah works too
damn right - I hear my friend "meah" last year and the deer stopped
in its tracks - 130 yard pot shot I yelled at him later for pot shotting.
If you don't practice it, don't do it.

Pretty much any noise you make will stop them. I made a horrible mistake not stopping a buck last year and liver shot him. Luckily I waited and didnt push him 4 miles and found him 120 yards from the shot. ALWAYS stop the deer or pass on the shot IMO.

I always wondered why people use those sounds to get a deer to stop. I'm out there at full draw and instinctively "meh" comes out. Next time I'm going to switch it up to something from a Monty Python skit. :)

Ehhhh. Once I have a strong anchor, I prefer not to do anything that could disrupt that. Short range with a scope or open sight is not much of a big deal but with a bow I try to eliminate as many chances of a mishap as possible. Consistency creates success.

Chances of a big buck hot on a doe stopping right where you want without making a sound is basically none. Hell Ive seen guys on shows yelling at bucks on a doe and they still wont stop.

I usually yeah HEY or grunt something. Any loud quick noise will freeze them. I have even been known yell BOO or STOP a few times.

I told my Nephew, See how I trained that one to stop when the season got here ? He still jokes about that.

That's probably because those "hunting show" Bucks have been listening to Human voices since they were born. Who knows how many times they've been yelled at.

yeah but i am not going to move my mouth and screw up my my anchor! thats what the fancy tv hunters do and end up putting a arrow through its guts. They then have the gull to turn at the camera and say" I smoked him.

Yep and i don't shoot it if it doesn't stop,so what the world is not over. I will poke his ass when the rut is winding down. He will stop if he is looking for a grunt or antlers banging.

    I don't bowhunt, so I can't comment.
But I will say I've stopped many deer wandering away from me
by sheep baah. My friend is a Meehhhh Guy. It works.
Heck, my bro in law wanted some pics this summer -
WHISTLE- ears up - he got some nice shots.

Yelling BANG is always fun before you pull the trigger. I like to give them at least one warning shot. I have also been known to yell BBQ SAUCE. You may also yell any of the following:

    GARLIC
    JERKY
    BURGER
    SALT
    PEPPER
    DON'T MOVE
    STAY
    etc, etc.

    Yelling BOO stops them everytime.

    Just make a noise.

I stopped a mature 11 point dead in his tracks with a "meehhhh"on Thursday morning. He was on his way to some scent I had put out and was following a drag I used walking in. I actually did "smoke" him. The arrow passed through both lungs. He ran 30 yards and crashed. There is a pic of him in the "bambi whacking thread." So I can say from very recent experience, that this technique can work to great effect.
