Senior Database Administrator – SQL Server

DESCRIPTION
The Senior Database Administrator position requires skills relating to the support, tuning and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases. This position also required database development skills associated with developing complex queries and stored procedures.
Specific Duties:
*Provides design and development for the installation of the database, including the vendor engine and resulting database design. Documents all appropriate procedures associated with the installation of the database and support services.
*Reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics such as location, amount of space, and access method). Establishes physical database parameters.
*Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database.
*Assigns SQL Server level and database level roles and permissions.
*Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.
*Supports application programmers with query design and access techniques for updating or retrieving data from the database. Reviews and corrects programs..
*Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to data base.
*Trains end users or technical support staff to use database applications.
*Monitors performance of database application after implementation.
*Troubleshoots and debugs deployed applications.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
*5 years of experience using Microsoft Desktop environment.
*5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and database development tools.
*Experience with the following Microsoft SQL Server related tools: SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services.
Desired:
*3-5 years of .NET application development experience.
*Experience with configuring Windows IIS web sites.
*Experience with web based development tools and WEB application development.
*Experience with Oracle database administration.
EDUCATION
*Technical bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university and 5 to 10 years of working experience, or 8 to 10 years related experience and/or training.
HOURS
*Full-time, Exempt, 40hrs/week, 8am to 5pm – Some overtime and after hours coverage will be required.
