    Hey Everyone,

I posted this in the Outdorr channel and thought I should copy it here as well.

I just launched a new group to organize monthly carp fishing meetups in DC. I haven't seen such a group anywhere and there's excellent fishing near the monuments. You can join here https://www.bigtent.com/groups/carpdc

The first meetup will be on Saturday, September 12th.

Are you doing any shallow water sight fishing?

I probably shouldn't speculate but my guess is yes. They Hoover around the top especially when mating season comes up (I'm sure you already know this) and the areas (I'm assuming) he's talking about are relatively shallow, although not clear.

If done by boat there is a runoff/drainage pipe right in that area that keeps the catfish and carp in a feeding frenzy with the constant turn of the bottom and fresh doodie particles from the drain.

Hey OP they can also be caught in droves at Carderrock. They are fun to fight but those slimy bastards are more trouble then they are worth. HOWEVER I'm passin the info to my buddy who I used to fish with when I had a life. If he's down, I'm down.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll have to tie up a few turd flies.

I haven't done any shallow sight fishing here. I'm fairly new to carp fishing in general, but I love the action and the Tidal Basin is a great spot. I found out it's actually one of the places CAG (carp anglers group) members meet annually for their "fish-in".
