Finally got to fly my Saturn V last weekend. I flew it on a E20-4, which turned out to be a great motor for it!

Nice. What kind of launch pad is that?

That's one of the club's away pads, not sure what brand. There are 2, slightly different. They both use a 2 beam base with a pivot for folding away, this particular one is for rods only, the other one can hold rods and 1010 rail. The Sat V launched from a 1/4" rod. (which is what is usually out at the away pad)

Fantastic! I've built 1 and 1/2 Saturn V's, myself. Not an easy build, but worth every hour spent on them, when they go up!

At 12k how the heck do you retreve it? 1500 feet for me is a nail biter.

Those are pretty much all running electronics. 1st altimeter deploys a small chute at apogee, then a 2nd one deploys the main chute further down (I think most do around 1k feet give or take, it takes a few hundred feet for a big chute to fully open) Some them have gps trackers in them too. There's a relatively cheap one you buy a prepaid text message sim card for, when you text message it, it texts back it's gps coordinates.

Just a heads up, tomorrow is NARHAMS annual night launch. Day launches run from around noon until 6pm, and then night launches (all rockets have to have active lighting) will go from 7-9.

Got myself a madcow super bat ray for my first HPR build. Should still be able to fly it on G76's at my club's non high power field as well.
