Been looking for a CZ82 for a while now.
    Where did they all go?

Trying to round out my 9x18 collection and I suppose either they are just that rare and/or I'm late to the party.

Century has a package deal where you have to buy 300 rounds of RAE with the gun. I think they are at the end of the batch so selection is poor and even if you get a nice one, it will have a billboard on it!.

I have seen a few in the classifieds here and on other boards and then there is always the auction sites.

I have one on my wish list, too.

Like all surplus, ya' snooze ya' lose. You have to get it when it's available. Waiting is almost always the wrong choice.

Have you actually shopped at or bought one from Century such that you can support your assertion? Century currently has Cz82s in excellent condition. Are you saying that assessment is wrong?

Perhaps try one first, if an MDSer that has one can join you at the range. I did the same as you, getting a P-64, CZ82, and non C&R Bulgarian Makarovs. I got my CZ82 from Dennis in Empire Arms, and was pretty excited at the time. In the end, I've only kept the Bulgarian Makarovs.

My CZ82 was in cosmetically excellent condition, but I wasn't into the ergos of the gun. It wasn't as natural a shooter in my hand as the Makarov or P-64, and for me, the wider grip for a modest bump in capacity gave the gun a disproportionate look (my aesthetic preferences are my own, I'm sure others feel differently). I also found their disassembly for trouble shooting much more complex than either the P-64 or Makarov, which excel in design simplicity.

On the other hand, I've enjoyed shooting different CZ handguns that Zzzzz_man has (much quicker for me to get on target) and their design aesthetics appear more evolved and are appealing to me. It's likely my expectations for the CZ82 (from YouTube videos and no direct experience) were too high before I purchased.

CZ83's sold in this country are chambered in .380 ACP.

What is “this country”? I am from Czech Republic

My guess is John from MD means the US and probably other "civilian markets".
The interwebs say the VZ-83 variant was produced in several calibers. It would be interesting to find one in 32acp...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CZ_82

I can say the internal parts are basically interchangeable between CZ-82's & 83's. I used CZ-83 parts to fix a very cheap "U-Fix-Um CZ-82" I got from CAI years ago.

This thread reminds me the pistol in my safe needs to come out to play at a Hooligan shoot real soon. And I still need to do a refinish project on it!

So many projects... So little time...

CZ-82's are snappy and fun little pistols. I hope the OP finds one at a reasonable price these days...

    ;)

What is the going rate on these pistols these days?

    Your soul.

Seems to be about $300. The annoyance is the mags can’t transfer in MD and most sources are really expensive for them. I think DK Firearms in VA had or had the 12 rounders for $19.99 a piece a little while ago. Most places want about $40 a pop. Which I guess I shouldn’t complain about as the mags for my Cz-50 are typically about $45 a pop (which is why I bought one spare mag and probably will not ever buy more).

I’d love to get a Cz-82 as well at some point, but I’ve bought so much stuff lately and all of it in calibers I didn’t own before. Been getting real expensive. 98 Mauser, Cz-50, Garand, M57 Yugo. Sheesh. All great stuff, but at some point reality has to step and I need to realize I can’t afford to spend $500+ on another system (figuring the handgun, a magazine or two depending if I can wrangle it out of state to get the mag with it and at least a few boxes of ammo). At least 9MAK isn’t that expensive.

J8064 just reminded me that the CZ83 was also made in .32 ACP and I had one. It was huge for the caliber and I didn't keep it long. I don't know if the .32 ever made the MD Handgun Roster.

    Where they send me.
There weren't that many produced given that Czechoslovakia was a rather small nation, and while they had a large standing army in the Cold War, handguns were a small part of their arms. I'm sure the total # produced can be found quickly enough but it was small compared to most other Warsaw Pac countries.

I've seen them offered at a couple of places over the last few weeks. Even saw some at the Pa gun shows.

Yup always buy a nice quantity when they first come in. Eventually the P64s will start drying up too.

Shame the good stuff right now is not C&R, STAR BMs, CZ75s, Bulgarian Makarovs.

No sir, I have not purchased from them but I have been watching their ads for quite some time. They seem to have taken the best and sold them at auction. You may still find some on GB.

I have also read what others have posted about the guns they have received when purchasing through their website. Almost every one has complained about the obtrusive import marks and some have questioned the rating because of condition! My money supply is more limited than most so I am usually diligent about my research before buying.

When you include the fact that Marylandistan will not allow the magazine to be shipped with the gun, I have decided to wait until I find one in my future travels outside of this commie run state. I cannot see buying one without a magazine, paying the same price and then have to travel later to buy a mag.

This will also give me the opportunity to actually see the gun before buying. Since these tend to have worn finishes and are easily scratched, this should allow me to insure that I am satisfied.

I am really not an expert in C&R firearms but from what I can surmise, plastering a large import mark on the side of any firearm lowers it's value to collectors and should be assessed accordingly. So yes, I am saying their assessment is wrong and does not represent the true condition once they have altered it's condition! If it is rated very good when they get it, it should only be rated good after they put their huge graffiti in the most visible place possible.

Century has a bunch of CZ83's but I don't see any CZ82's at all. (Just checked, too.)
