Bucks County DA: Suspect Charged With Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Connection To Mysterious Explosions

    This guy is nuts.

Police made an arrest Thursday in a series of mysterious explosions that have rocked Bucks County for months. Law enforcement converged on two locations in Quakertown as part of the investigation – a chemical company on Old Bethlehem Pike and the home of the owner of that company on Spinnerstown Road.

David Surman Jr. is being charged with possession of weapons of mass destruction. He would not speak when entering for his arraignment and made no comments about the disturbing finds in his home.

He's probably just bored senseless from living that far out in the country.

When I lived in PA people blew stuff up all the time. My neighbor had a cottage rented out on his farm that he couldn't get the renters out of. Finally they made some sort of explosive device that went bad, injured the builder and put a hole through the floor.
Must be in the coal cracker breeding. They love stuff that goes bang. You can see it in action up to an including this Wednesday for sure in the coal region. Bucks county aint the region but sounds like typical cracker behavior to me.
    Doesn't surprise me one bit.

Does anyone remember back in the 70s someone blew up a farm house in the Churchville, PA area, specifically Bustleton Pike? Huge explosion, was said to be a mafia "warning". It was a 10 alarm fire. Shook the ground miles away.

Who doesn't love blowing stuff up? It's a blast! LOL. I got to go to the demo range a couple times and it was awesome! Even watching a blasting cap blow up an ammo can is fun, but wrapping a 6 foot section of telephone pole with a sheet of C4 and turning it into sawdust is better yet. And I forget the nomenclature but there was this L shaped stuff with a thin copper center that will cut openings in thick steel like a scissors cutting paper. And we toured the EOD shop (museum) which was fascinating. Like a kid in a candy store.

You would have enjoyed blowing up 500 and 750 pound USAF dud bombs with C4. Makes the whole area is having an earthquake.

Yes I remember that explosion. We lived in Holland PA and felt it in our house. That was probably 1976 or 1977.

Yep. We thought it was the end of the world. But we were kids so.......

*EDIT* I just looked and yeah, you would have felt and seen it. Glad someone else remembers, couldn't find any archived news article about it. Remember driving by days later, it was just LAID OUT.

Son is an active duty Marine Combat Engineer.

He mentioned he’d started a Masters program. Naturally I inquired what degree he was pursuing. He said “explosives engineering Dad, duh”.

I asked just what he intended to do with a Masters in Explosives Engineering. He said, “...c’mon Dad...HAVE FUN!”

Typical gov year end surplus where we have to use it or loose it next year. Bunch of 11B grunts and more C4 , DET cord , etc that we could effectively do repetitive training with. Creativity and boredom set in....... bigger and bigger charges :) Didn’t take long before Range Operations paid a visit and the LT had some explaining to do. Good times.
