upgraded to 550C. i have pacific dies for 45ACP.

i'm trying to do initial setup and found that the crimp die and shell are not lined up properly. The shell contacts and crushes on die instead of 'throating'.

i haven't tried dummy round yet to see if the rounded nose would guide it.

my other thought is to chamfer the inside lip of die to guide round in.

    otherwise try another crimp dies.

    Any thoughts.

Obvious question would be, "Did you do the alignment procedure on your press?" My 550 came with an alignment tool and instructions. To me, what you describe would be one of the potential outcomes of misalignment. Also, make sure the shell plate is just tight enough to allow free movement. Too loose and odd things can happen too.

Do you have your powder/flair die properly set to flair the case at the #2 station?

You are using a taper crimp die correct? I avoid crimping on the dillon and do so on a single stage press. Sure it takes a bit longer but I can feel what is going on which is impossible with everything that's going on when a progressive is rolling.
