News Release: Man charged in felony killing of dog

Howard County police have charged a Windsor Mill man in the killing of a friend’s dog in Ellicott City. Corey Markus Jones, 26, of Mountain Green Circle, is charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty for stabbing the dog and tying it to a tree.

Police were called Dec. 30 for a report of blood in the area of the 8900 block of Town and Country Boulevard. Officers located a deceased pit bull tied to a tree with its throat cut. It appeared the dog had struggled to free itself before succumbing to its injuries.

Police quickly located the apartment where the dog had been in the care of friends of the owner. After interviews with witnesses, police identified Jones, who had recently been staying at the apartment, as the suspect in the killing. They found him hiding behind a shower curtain in the bathtub.

Jones has been charged with one felony count of intentionally mutilating, torturing and cruelly killing an animal, and two misdemeanor counts of causing unnecessary suffering and pain. He is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.

Heard this earlier today...I would volunteer to slice this guys throat and tie him to a tree to bleed out! What a piece of human garbage. Told my son "somebody kills our dog-he gets a baseball bat to the brain pan".

I’ve grown up raising and training various animals, just Thursday I chased buzzards away from the neighbors new born calf, they go for the eyes right at birth, funny to notice the other animals in the field knew what I was doing. So I’ll say, I have more respect for animals than most people. Yeah, this guy would be walking the plank.

I have a problem with the use of the word "People" in the thread title.

This story concerns a sub-human piece of shit. Since this is Maryland I don't expect any serious punishment.

I’ve actually experienced something similar. Back around 2011-2012 maybe. My sisters at the time, boyfriend, kicked our dog until she had organ damage and she had to be put down. She didn’t attack him or anything. He did it for fun. Only got 5 years probation.

SSS would have been standard procedure in my family. :mad54:

I'm always puzzled by folks who completely lose their minds over a dog or cat being murdered when there's hundreds of greater tragedies which befall real people every day.

There’s a $5000 reward to find the person who ran over the seagulls. I’d have to think there are many more crimes against people where zero reward money is offered.

For people to on purpose set up a kill scene for nothing more then entertainment or getting rocks off is pretty low . If you are using the kill to feed yourself or family that is acceptable , we are given that right and responsibility by God . Evil people is what I am thinking . IMHO

More fun to throw Boardwalk fries into the bed of some asshat's pickup, when they push thru the the crowd at OC. Couldn't see the truck as it sped away...just a cloud of winged rats!
