When I was a kid bayonets were abundant at Milsurp stores all over the place and they were cheap and kids could buy without any problem.

That was in the late 50s early 60s.

I recall they were never even close to being sharp.

My question is, did infantry use their bayonets as dull as the ones that Sunny Surplus sold were?

They could be used to stick something, but the edge was super dull.

Bayonets only need a sharp point to stab; a sharp edge was not required but many soldiers used their bayonets as a knife too.

Sunny Surplus in Towson. I when through half a bin of Lee Enfield spike bayonets to find one with a triangular blade. I paid the outrageous price of $1.00!!!

    Great time and place.

    Good luck
