Hey guys I've been looking into building an ak sbr from an amd 65 pre barreled kit like this one http://ak-builder.com/index.php now the only problem is im going to be 18 in November and I'm not sure if it's legal for me to make it on a form 1 at 18 while I'm in maryland so if anyone has any idea to whether it's legal or not I'd be really interested in hearing what you have to say. And while I'm here is there anyone that could do the riveting and spot weld the rails in for a good price?

You are better off having a shop build it for you unless you are going to invest in all the tools. I don't have a answer to your question I would love to know also. You can get a vz-58 at 18 tho or RPD

AK pistols and SBR's are good to go. So you can make it into a pistol and once you get your stamp back affix the stock as long as you can hit 29" OAL you're golden. Just saw the part about being 18. That changes things and I'm not sure if you can be in possession of a handgun in MD under the age of 21 but I can tell you a dealer cannot transfer it to you.

It is unlawful for any person to sell or transfer a handgun to a person whom he knows or has reasonable cause to believe:
    Is under 21

You also cannot legally own NFA items until your 21. So you'll need to wait or move to a freer state where you can buy an AK rifle.

Wait...I could build an AK pistol today, get a stamp, and be able to convert it into an AK SBR rifle and sidestep FSA2013 despite them banning all "AK variants"?
