The stock is not in real good condition. I need to take it apart and clean it real good. What do the experts think. Clean the original stock as best I can or replace it? I am going to sell it but not sure if replacing the stock will help or hurt the value.

What about cosmoline. Clean it out of the internals or leave it. Don't think I will shoot this one if that helps the decision. Clean exposed parts for wall hanger and leave it in internals?

Cleaning is ok, overcleaning that modifies changes of the weapon the character is different. Feel free to remove cosmoline especially since you plan to shoot, but oil up all the metal really good then. I personally wouldn't shoot that one, just because what it is. If you want to shoot a mosin, just get a WW2 wartime one and have at it. my .02

I just looked through the Bubba Thread. Yellowsled I can't believe you thought I was considering doing something like that. Wow people can screw up pieces of history!

Good advice from yellowsled. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it if you want to, I had a 1916 Izhevsk out yesterday for some exercise, but to each their own
