As I am sure you are all aware, the MD 2014 Primary Candidate Ratings and Endorsements are now up on our website at nrapvf.org.

These ratings and endorsements are valid for the 2014 Primary Only. If your district, or the candidates from one party in your district are not listed, it is because there is no primary in that race - the candidate(s) are unopposed, based on the number of candidates and the number of seats in that district.

Ratings and Endorsements for statewide races have not yet been published, but will be soon.

Ratings and endorsements for the November election will be published in the fall, and will include information on every General Assembly race, and certain statewide races.

Surveys were mailed via USPS to every candidate at the address of record with the Board of Elections.

If you know of a candidate whose rating is currently listed as ?, please have them contact my office at 703 267 1210 to have a survey emailed for a quick response. Our website is updated whenever we receive new information on a candidate, and will continue to be updated until the Primary date. For this reason, our website is the official record of ratings and endorsements, and should be consulted for information if there are any questions about a candidate's rating or endorsement status.

I will review ratings and endorsements with candidates personally if any candidate wishes to have me do so. NRA-PVF does not comment on ratings received by any candidate. The website contains a key explaining what each rating means. NRA-PVF also does not release candidate surveys, nor comment on specifics.

I also want to thank everyone who cares enough about this issue to engage in the political process, educate themselves about the candidates, and vote. In every race, in every district, every vote counts. 2014!

Also, we have received reports that in some instances, when you input your member number or address, the correct district is not populating for the House races. Our webmaster has been notified and is working to correct the problem ASAP.

On the calculations for ratings, I am looking at amendment votes for the Firearms Safety Act of 2013. There are many votes that seemingly conflict with a legislators final "Nay" vote. I respectfully request that these votes be reviewed as part of the rating :)

My partial review has raised concerns on these candidates/incumbents:
seemingly anti-2A votes on amendments: Beidle, Jameson, Bohanan
Also - not voting / absent on some votes: Bohanan, Wilson

    Thanks in adavnce

Thanks Shannon. So since I am in the Republican District 36, I should switch from this godforsaken DINO character that I have become, back to Republican?

Unless you want to help in deciding who wins the primary for Gov, AG, and Comptroller for MD, then yes, I would change back to Republican and support those in your district.

for House district 32, Sophocleus and Beidle have A- ratings. I looked over some to the amendment votes. Beidle voted against 2A-friendly ones, and Sophocleus was "excused absent" on some. Please review the ratings of these candidates and make downward adjustments.

These are the votes I reviewed:
    Amendments:

by Kipke - looks to be about requiring MSP to offer and do voter registration as part of the HQL application or renewal process - the amendment: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2013RS/amds/bil_0001/SB0281_46322901.pdf, the vote: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/f...b=subject3&id=sb0281,h-0853&stab=02&ys=2013RS

by Dwyer - looks to to be about alter the list of guns banned by name - the amendment: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2013RS/amds/bil_0001/sb0281_92382101.pdf, the vote: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/f...b=subject3&id=sb0281,h-0855&stab=02&ys=2013RS

by Impalaria - looks to be about requiring the court to notify the defendant about "...CONSEQUENCES RELATING TO FIREARM POSSESSION OF CONSENTING TO AND RECEIVING A STAY OF ENTRY OF JUDGMENT...". This was probably about PBJ and gun possession - the amendment: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2013RS/amds/bil_0001/sb0281_61392801.pdf, the vote (just 36 "Yea" votes!!): http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/f...b=subject3&id=sb0281,h-0864&stab=02&ys=2013RS

Mary-Dulany James, who is in Senate district 34, voted against 2A-friendly amendments on the Firearms Safety Act of 2013. Please review the "A-" rating of this candidate

Where can we find information of some of the people running for office in the 2016 Maryland Republican primary coming up in a few weeks. I checked the NRAPVF site and couldn't find anything.
