  • Hello Baytriots
I would like to ask if there is anyone in the Annapolis area that will help properly torque the castle nut on my AR pistol. I simply do not have the correct tool for the job.I am a SOTAR alum but he is a bit to far for such a small job.

    Thanks

    Laurel
I am in Laurel off of 198 near 295. I have an armorer's wrench and a torque wrench. Admittedly, I have never used the torque wrench when securing a castle nut. I just use the armorer's wrench and have never damaged one or had one come loose. Also, I never stake them so they can always be easily removed later if I decide to make a change.

Anyway, you are welcome to come by and use them if you like.

Try the Magpul castlenut wrench. $80 but works better than any other I’ve tried.

an armors wrench should do the trick, mostly, torquing the nut on the barrel to mount it is very important, often the manufacturers of the handguard you get will give you a tool to put a socket wrench in, that's if you get a free floating system. then you can use a torque wrench on that.
