If you photocopy a receipt of a large deposit, does it state on it whether or not it's: pennies, nickels, dimes, dollars, or checks? It typically states the TOTAL deposited amount, in $. That might be your answer.

My bank itemizes deposits as cash and checks on the receipt. This is done so that you can see the total held for clearing.

I applied for a handgun permit about a month ago for employment purposes - armed security. I still have yet to hear from MSP regarding an interview. Ppl on the forum say that when it's for employment purposes there is typically a 1.5 month turn-around...not looking so good for me.

I'm currently unemployed until I get the permit. I guess we are all simply at the mercy of MSP. :mad54:

If I were you, I'd call or go in person and talk to them and explain that your living is currently at the mercy of their process and ask them to consider expediting the decision...one way or the other. That way if you are not approved, you know it and can move on to look for other work.

I don't personally know any of the MSP who are responsible for processing the applications, but I have read/heard that they are pretty good guys, stuck in a tough spot, just trying to do thier job. They may take your situation into consideration and bump you to the head of the line.

    Best of luck to you.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I actually called MSP today and asked about the status. They said my handgun permit and security license are "pending" and I should be receiving them in the mail within the next 2-4 weeks.

One thing that I was curious about is the fact that I haven't gone in for the interview yet. I asked the guy that and he didn't really give me a straight answer. He said that if the investigator looks at my file and see's something wrong, then I will get a disapproval letter. If everything looks fine, then I will be getting my cards in 2-4 weeks. My application is for employment purposes, plus I have a clean background and LEO's as references, so I'm not sure if that's a factor of me not having to do an interview...or maybe I'll be getting that phone call here soon.

Hello. I think I already know the answer to this question but I wanted to give my vitals and see if anyone on here could help. I am looking to get a carry permit, mainly for when I walk my dog at night and due to working late. Here are my vitals:

-Clear background, no crimes committed or accused of.
-Hold credentials with various federal agencies including DOD, FDA, EPA, DOC, and DOJ with full access to the Pentagon (unescorted to secret level).
-Have been background checked by nearly every govt agency and would pass top secret level.
-have LEO's who would write letters of support, etc.

Does any of this matter in this stupid State? Any true advice would be very helpful. I am just getting really tired of walking my smaller dog at night while always looking behind me and being really scared. There have been several shootings, all at night, in my area. All of these damn a-hole criminals are carrying, why cant a law abiding citizen carry??

    Thank you all!

Sounds like you have the same credentials as a ton of people on this site... We are still fighting for ccw.. With that said I doubt it..

I carry in Maryland under LEOSA. Since you hinted that you do or have worked for the DoD and the DOJ do you qualify under LEOSA also?

I may get lynched here but if I read your Bio correctly you may well hold knowledge of sensitive and potentially damaging U.S. secrets, possibly on DOD defense secrets etc.

If abducted by a Terror Cell they could possibly extract information about soft spots in U.S. Defense including layout of the interior of the Pentagon and the best time and location of a Terror Attack on Federal Buildings.

Further that in fact Terror Cells have been discovered in the Baltimore area recently several known Terrorist were arrested in the Highlandtown area of Baltimore.

If you could obtain a letter from a Ranking Official at the Pentagon that you in fact carry that degree of clearance and are in fact privy to National Secrets of a sensitive nature I would advise you to apply for a Handgun Carry Permit for just those reasons.

I would also add to the Application that just holding that type of information makes you a potential target and this places you in fear for the lives of you and you family

I may be wrong but my gut feeling is that MSP would approve your request especially if you could supply Pentagon backing.

My recommendation, forget about the walking the dog story and go for it using the above basis for the Application.

    Good Luck,

If Md would allow CC a lot of our nice little neighborhoods would still be nice little neighborhoods because all the nice people walking their little dogs would not have moved out for fear of their life.

Shersot99 I guess you are a contractor. You shouldn't advertise you have creds or clearance anywhere. This is an open forum. Just a freindly tip.:)
