i found this picture in an ad, so i apologize for using it but i'm using it for reference, because i don't know all the names of the parts on a shotgun yet. the area in the red circle on my mossberg has about a 1/16"-1/8" gap after i took it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it, and i don't wanna try tightening it anymore and force anything. i tried looking in the receiver to see if something was wrong, and everything looks right and looks like the barrel is seated all the way into the receiver. so my question is, is it safe to fire like that, or should i take it apart and look it over and try to reassemble and see if the gap is gone, and if the gap is still there don't fire it or would it be safe to shoot? thanks

Mossbergs have that little gap at the end of the magazine tube. Don't know why it's there or what purpose it serves. But I do know that if you tighten it too far then the magazine tube won't feed properly.
