McConnell should use the Nuke Option for SCOTUS nominees. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

Couldn't the same be said of Republicans who wouldn't put Garland to a vote? :evilgrin3

With Garland, IIRC the issue was timing and proximity to the Presidential election. Just as the Dems have done to Republicans, except that the rules are always different when it's the Dems.

Hey, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here... personally, I want the bench to lean right enough that someone buys them a V8.

This stuff goes back and forth politically, depending on who has control of the gov't at the time. 8 years ago we all b**ched about Obama, and now they're b**ching about Trump.

The big difference is the violence and up-in-arms the Lefties are pulling. *We* (that is, Republicans), never got that violent, IIRC. It was more about making sure O didn't screw up the country completely.

Just as a FYI it is precedent not to appoint a SCOTUS Justice the year of an election. I think it only occurred once back in the 1800's. Other vacancies that occurred during the final year of a presidential election were held until after the president was elected, and if a new president after they were sworn in. The D's are just bucking tradition and crying because they planned on his untimely death and expected to replace him along with RBG to solidify the SCOTUS for a generation.

Schumer is as full of shit as the media was, telling us there was no chance in hell that Trump would be President, and that the Republicans would not maintain majorities in both houses of Congress.

    EXACTLY.

I'm sure he would IF he could but can he do that on a SC issue? Can the majority in congress do it by changing the law with a simple majority?
I don't know if he can, but regardless, McConnell and the Republican poltroons are nothing more than gutless cowards who are only interested in getting re-elected and keeping their power.

    Power of the purse ........

But worrying about getting elected and re-elected is what makes representative democracy function. When the GOV stops caring entirely about what the voters want, that's called "dictatorship".

Many of the problems we have now are a result of short attention spans, apathy, and lack of analytical thought on the part of the voting public. Politicians are reflections of their constituencies.

The problem is that this is ALL that most of them care about, R or D.

With respect, no. Biden said they would have done the same.

    Nope, "Biden Rule".

    Correct.

Hey!, you are a new guy (just 31 posts); just wait until the mysterious 'Water Cooler' sub-forum opens for you. Looking forward to your wit there. Welcome! :D

People have forgotten how much of a vacuous, insidious a-hole Biden was as a senator. He's a blend of John Kerry's intelligence and Harry Reid's mean-spiritedness.
