    174-6 Firearms, discharge prohibited

    B. It shall be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge a firearm:

    (1) From, onto, across or within 1,000 feet of any school, the area within that distance being hereby defined as a safety zone; or
    (2) In the direction of any school wherein the person firing or discharging the firearm knows or should have known that the projectile or projectiles have a reasonable chance of striking the structure or human beings.

    C. Nothing in this section shall be held to apply to or prohibit the firing or discharge of firearms:

    (1) On a bona fide shooting range;
    (2) Where necessary to protect life or property or to kill any dangerous threatening animal; or
    (3) To any duly authorized law enforcement officer acting in the proper performance of his/her official duties.

    D. Violations and penalties.

    (1) Any violation of § 174-6 shall be deemed a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $2,500 or imprisonment for not more than 60 days, or both.
    (2) The prohibitions stated or the powers conferred by this section shall be in addition and supplemental to the prohibitions stated or powers conferred by any other law.

    179-3 Regulations

    L. Firearms. No person, other than a law enforcement officer, shall carry, possess or discharge a firearm on park property except in those areas designated for such purpose.

    § 130.01 FIRING GUNS.
    No person shall fire a gun within the limits of the town.

    § 130.99 PENALTY.
    (A) Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this chapter for which another penalty is not specifically provided shall, upon conviction, be subject to the following:

    (1) A fine not exceeding $2,500 for the first violation; and

    (2) A fine not exceeding $7,500 for second and subsequent violations, except for violations of ordinances regulating traffic and parking.

    (B) A separate violation shall be deemed committed upon each day during which a violation occurs or continues.

    PART 1. FIREARMS —IN GENERAL
    § 59-1. Carrying long-barrel firearms.
    (a) Carrying prohibited — in general.
    (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to carry in any vehicles or about his person, except in his
    place of abode, fixed place of business, target range, gun show, historic reenactment, or civic
    event held on a National Monument or a Historic Shrine or parade for which a permit has
    been obtained, any rifle, shotgun or other firearm the barrel of which is over 14 inches in
    length.
    (2) Provided that this subsection shall not apply to:
    (i) marshals, sheriffs, prison or jail wardens, or their deputies while in the performance
    of their official duty;
    (ii) policemen or other law enforcement officers;
    (iii) members of the armed forces of the United States or of the National Guard or
    organized reserves when on duty;
    (iv) holders of special police commissions issued under Title 4, Subtitle 9, of Article 41
    of the Maryland Code, while actually on duty on the property for which the
    commission was issued or while traveling to or from such duty;
    (v) uniformed security guards, special railway police, and watchmen who have been
    cleared for such employment by the appropriate governmental agency, while in the
    course of their employment or while traveling to or from the place of employment;
    (vi) guards in the employ of a bank, savings and loan association, building and loan
    association, or express or armored car agency, while in the course of their
    employment or while traveling to or from the place of employment;
    (vii) manufacture, transportation, or sale of weapons to persons authorized under law to
    possess such under the laws of the United States;
    (viii) transportation of firearms unloaded and carried in an enclosed case or rack designed
    for that purpose;
    (ix) antique firearms, meaning:
    (A) any firearm (including any firearm with a matchlock, flintlock, percussion
    cap, or similar type of ignition system) manufactured in or before 1898; and
    (B) any replica of any firearm described in subitem (A) if such replica:
    1. is not designed or redesigned for using rimfire or conventional
    centerfire fixed ammunition; or
    2. uses rimfire or conventional centerfire fixed ammunition which is no
    longer manufactured in the United States and which is not readily
    available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade.
    (b) Carrying prohibited — intent to commit crime.
    It shall be unlawful for any person to carry in any about his person any rifle, shotgun, or other
    firearms the barrel of which is over 14 inches in length with the intent to use the rifle, shotgun,
    or other firearm in the commission of a crime against the person or property of another.
    (c) Penalties.
    Any violation of the provisions of this section shall be deemed a misdemeanor, subject upon
    conviction to a fine of not more than $500 or to imprisonment for not longer than 60 days or to
    both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Court.

    § 59-2. Discharging firearms.
    (a) Prohibited conduct; penalties.
    If any person shall fire or discharge any gun, pistol, or firearm within the City, unless it be on
    some occasion of military parade, and then by order of some officer having the command, every
    such person for every such offense shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, pay a
    fine not to exceed $1,000, or be imprisoned for a term not to exceed 1 year, or both.
    (b) Discharge on vessel.
    If any gun, pistol, or firearm shall be discharged from on board any vessel within the harbor of
    Baltimore, the captain of the vessel, as well as the offender, shall be liable to the said penalty.
    (c) Exception.
    Nothing in this section shall be held to apply to or prohibit the discharge or firing of any such
    firearms on permanently located, properly posted and bona fide target ranges, the location of
    which has been fled with the Police Department of Baltimore City.

    § 263-1 Discharge restricted.

    It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm or air gun, BB gun or any gun projecting lead, except in a regularly established shooting gallery or in a private basement target range.

    § 263-2 Construal of provisions.

    This chapter shall not be construed to prohibit the discharge of guns where necessary to protect life or property or to kill any dangerous animal nor to prohibit the discharge of guns by any duly authorized police officer acting in the proper performance of his official duties nor to prevent discharge of blank cartridges in theatrical performances, sporting events or other public or ceremonial functions.

    It shall be unlawful to discharge any handgun, pistol, firearm, BB gun, slingshot, squib, rocket, cracker or mixture of gunpowder, projecting lead or any missiles, provided that this section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law from discharging a firearm in the performance of his duty, any citizen from discharging a firearm when lawfully defending person or property, or the use of any toy projecting non-life-threatening missiles. Notwithstanding the foregoing, hunting activities, including the use of firearms for such purposes, shall be permitted on parcels of land which are at least 50 acres or larger.

A person may not discharge or shoot off any firearm, rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol, air gun, air rifle, bow and arrow, cross-bow or any similar mechanism that is designed to expel a projectile by the action of any explosive, gas, compressed air, spring or elastic within the corporate limits of the Town of Hampstead whether such mechanism is loaded with blank or live cartridges or projectiles of any kind.
    B. Subsection A above does not apply to:

    (1) The discharge of any mechanism on any target, trap or skeet range or shooting area which is a permitted use or approved conditional use in the zoning district in which it is located and for which a site plan has been approved by the Town of Hampstead Planning Commission.

    § 88-3 Exemptions.

    The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to:

    A. Properly authorized law enforcement officers acting in their line of duty or in training.
    B. The members of duly organized gun, rifle or archery clubs, or their bona fide guests, or of military organizations, upon the ranges of such clubs or organizations, under the control and supervision of the duly constituted officers of such clubs and organizations.
    C. The patrons of commercial ranges.
    D. Those persons in possession of permits issued by the Town for hunting.
    E. Citizens found to be acting in self-defense.

    § 88-1 Concealment.

    It is unlawful for any person, except while on his or her own premises, to carry concealed upon his or her person any firearms; razor, metallic knuckles, dirk, switchblade knife or other weapon or instrument commonly used for the purposes of infliction of personal injury, provided that this chapter shall not apply to law enforcement officers while engaged in the exercise of their duties as such officers, nor shall it apply to persons duly licensed pursuant to law to carry concealed firearms. Any weapon or instrument found on any person in violation of this section shall be subject to confiscation.

    § 88-2 Discharge.

    It is unlawful for any person to discharge a gun, rifle, pistol or other firearm, air rifle, slingshot, bow and arrow, crossbow, or other weapon or instrument which discharges a projectile capable of inflicting bodily injury within Town limits, except in the lawful defense of person or property and except in the performance of a lawful duty, provided that this chapter shall not apply to the use of blank ammunition at athletic events, military funerals and other functions at which the use of blank ammunition is appropriate. Any weapon or instrument so discharged in violation of this section shall be subject to confiscation.

    § 137-2 Discharge of weapons.

    It shall be unlawful to discharge a rifle, air rifle or air gun of any kind and description which impels with force a pellet of any kind or to discharge a bow and arrow, slingshot, shotgun, gun or any firearm or weapon from which a shot or other object is discharged within the Town of Rock Hall or on town-owned property.

    § 137-3 Exemptions.

    No person may discharge any firearm, including but not limited to a handgun, rifle, shotgun, starter pistol, flare gun, antique firearm or a reproduction thereof, or any other deadly or dangerous weapon of any kind, whatsoever, in the town limits of Snow Hill.

    § 85-2 Exceptions.

    Nothing in this chapter shall apply to any law enforcement officer, licensed security officer or investigator acting within the scope of their employment, an organized event authorized by the Mayor and Council or at an approved range operated within the town limits of Snow Hill.

    It shall be unlawful for any person to shoot, fire or discharge any gun, pistol, air gun, or firearm of any description; any squib, rocket, cracker or mixture of gunpowder; any dynamite or any explosive whatsoever within the corporate limits of the Town of St. Michaels except as permitted in the Agriculture Zone as more fully described in Chapter 197, Hunting.
