If I buy a new barrel for my gun is there any paperwork or things I should be aware of, I have a Sig P229 in .357 thinking of getting 40 cal barrel.

Nope. Only time you could run into trouble is if your barrel somehow created a banned weapon, which is not the case for your P229.
