Just wanted to drop a note about the excellent work Duffy's resident gunsmith, John, does.
I brought in a Turkish Mauser action, Rhineland Arms .45APC kit, and a Hogue Mauser stock and got a sweet bolt action .45 rifle back. At work right now, so don't have a picture of the rifle to post. Once I get home, I will post a pic to go with it.
So the work that was done:
Parkerized/Ceracoated Sniper Grey action/barrel
Stock inlet for action
Rail added for sights above action.
Bolt handle bent
Barrel threaded (he had to create a sleeve to go over the end of the barrel as it was too thin to thread.)
Headspaced for .45
Fixed the mistakes I had made trying to install the kit on my own. (Adapter for 1911 mags in the wrong place.)
Added a timmney mauser safety to go along with the timmney trigger
Extended 1911 mag release installed.
Have not had the chance to fire the rifle yet. I have tested the rifle with snap caps and every 1911 magazine I have. Works great as long as I work the action rapidly (which is an inherent issue with this type of conversion).
Just wanted to say thanks for the great work!!!!!!!
