Heres a C&R oddity that few people have seen and fewer people still own. They were made by hand one at a time Winchester Model 36 manufactured between 1920-1927 only 20,306 were produced only a few are still around. Oddly they do not have any serial number but have manufactures marks on the barrel and bolt and on the butt. This single shot “RIM” fire are classified as a 18” shotgun that chambered in uses 9mm RIM shot. I did a less research and found the 9mm shotguns were give the names “Rat Gun” and “Garden Gun” as they were used to kill snakes, birds, rodents and other pests without a loud report and little damage to buildings. I’ve included a photo of the 9MM Rim rounds with some 22lr Golden rounds for comparison.

Had no idea such a round or thing existed. Thanks for sharing!

I particularly like that trigger guard, haha.

My FIL has one, was his mothers, wanted to get it into firing shape, but after a few decades of neglect in a shed it was gone. Bore rusted shut, so smoothed and preserved the wood and the metal keeping the patina and getting rid of rust, got the action operable with spare parts and it's a neat little wallhangar.

While indeed rare in the US , the cal (gage) was semi-popular , or at least not unusual in Europe.

While indeed interesting , that style of triggergaurd/ semi pistol grip was common on boys rifles/ low cost bolt .22's from first half of 1900's .
