I do not like the design of that scope mount. 3/4" of engagement at one end, only? And a good 10" overhang?

Yup, certainly looks that way. Maybe 5-6" overhang actually. But it's likely a POS Chinese scope that's not worth the aluminum it's made out of...

I bought one used a few years back. Like you, I liked everything in the design except for the cantilevered scope-mount.

Initially, it would not hole a reliable zero (probably why the original owner sold it). So I took the scope and mount off of the gun, and reinstalled everything with a generous amount of loctite. Since I did that, it has held remarkable steady. And it is really a tack-driver.

I like the "Made in America" feature of the Henry guns, too. Also, their Customer Service is great.

Ahh, very interesting. Thanks for relating your experience.

Is the mount removable? How is it joined to the receiver (or barrel)?

It's held-on with a couple of screws. But you have to split the rings and remove the scope in order to access them.

It also has fiber-optic "iron-sights" that can be used if you remove the scope and mount.

Note that, even with the loctite, I suspect that any sort of impact to the back end of the scope would tend to shift the zero.
