    Welcome!

    Stay out of DC.
Even a single empty cartridge case rolling around on the floor of your car can get you arrested in DC.

Welcome Good Luck it is different here.

In Montgomery County if you have a minor in the house it is a 10 year mandatory if you have a loaded gun in the house so get a speed safe.

In MD you have to register regulated arms, they make you register them in 90 days. (ie handguns, AR15s (or anything on the regulated list) not shotguns and CX4s etc just regulated things.

To buy a handgun here you need a HQL which cost around $300 with course work (veteran exemptions apply for course work), so if you are looking at a rhino or something buy it before leaving.

Magazines over 10 rounds cannot be bought, sold or transferred here but you can buy them over state lines and bring them back.

The best range is the NRA HQ about 45 minutes away in NOVA.

Also make sure you get home before the street lights come on. If it makes you feel better the knife laws are decent.

The food establishments out here offer crayons but they are for kids not for snacks. Sorry I was Navy it is fun messing with Jar Heads.

Informative post, but damn can we get something positive?

Sorry man I came on orders from Florida and had to look up all of this mess before moving out it was like moving into a concentration camp.

But after living here for almost 5 years the people are cool and they have good Korean food.

There that was good, right? Haha I was spoiled we actually had gun ranges in our back yards in Jax.

Guess it's too late to tell you to avoid Maryland.

For the positive news - Everything tastes better with Old Bay .

One correction on the Handgun Qualification License (HQL). As a former service member, it will cost you no more than $110. All you need are Livescan fingerprints (usually $55 to $60) and the state application fee of $50. The HQL entitles you to buy a handgun, nothing else.
If you want to buy an AR in 223/5.56, it must have a heavy barrel (either advertised as a heavy barrel or stamped as a heavy barrel). AK rifles are banned but AK pistols are not. You can only use deadly force in home defense if you are in imminent danger of bodily harm. There is no castle doctrine apart from you being immune from civil liability if you legally shoot someone in your home. Getting a carry permit is very difficult unless you have a documentable work related need or you are a victim of violent crime. Intrastate transportation of firearms is limited to certain places such as ranges, formal or informal target practice, hunting, gun stores, etc. You are not allowed to stop anywhere else along the way.
There is a list of 45 banned long guns. You are only allowed to purchase handguns that are on a roster (Google "maryland handgun roster"). There is a seven day waiting period for picking up handguns after you have purchased them. Long guns are cash and carry. Long guns must have at least a 16" barrel and at least 29" overall length. You can only buy one handgun every 30 days unless you get a Designated Collector letter from the State Police. When you get your Maryland drivers license, bring a copy of your DD-214 to get veteran status on your license. That will identify you as a veteran for places like Lowe's and Home Depot where they give vets a discount. Private handgun sales must go through the State Police. If you get in a physical scuffle that ends up in court, avoid taking Probation Before Judgement (PBJ) because having a PBJ for a crime of violence or domestic abuse removes your right to keep and bear arms in Maryland. Don't carry an assisted knife in Baltimore City or the city of Annapolis. Those places consider them to be switchblades.

There are more rules, but this is a start, along with what others have mentioned.

    Welcome to Maryland!

You are invited to attend any Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club event at the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore. Our club events calendar is on our website: Arlingtonrpc.org

Arlington Rifle and Pistol Club has a 3-Gun shoot on December 9th. Arlington has club shoots all year long. Arlington has 3-gun shoots, steel plate rifle and pistol shoots, Bust Fest Trap shoots where you shoot 1 - 3 clays at a time. Arlington has Tuesday Night Steel shoots where you shoot steel and move to engage steel targets, from April to October. We also have a terrific Juniors air rifle and small bore rifle team and a Women On Target Program. Arlington's dues are $40 per year. The AGC range badge costs $180. Check out Arlington's website for the calendar of events: Arlingtonrpc.org.

The Associated Gun Clubs Of Baltimore (AGC) range is open every day, except for Christmas and New Year's Day.
