A case could be made that the L1A1 is not banned, as it is not listed, and not an exact copy of an FAL. In that case, nothing needs to be done.

But if not, since the FAL was a regulated firearm in 2011, even as a gift, a 77r should have been processed to show the transfer. And now, it would be a banned firearm, so may not be transferred to any MD resident.

At this point I think you need to talk to a firearms lawyer.

Simiarly the PSL is (currently) regarded as not prohibited because it does not share parts with NDM's (and SVD's) or AK's. If the L1A1 shares parts with the FAL, MSPLD will probably consider it a copy. Do the bolts and trigger groups swap out between the two?

Mine is a full inch pattern, so I don’t think it does. I looked on the list and saw century arms L1A1 is banned; it mine is a CAI Imbel, does that make a difference? Can anyone reccomend a firearms lawyer? I don’t want to loose the rifle. We are planning on moving to Florida in the next 3 years will it even be an issue there?

Yeah, inch pattern and metric do not swap parts. Like the PoltyTech M14 and the M1A. Same rifle, but some parts don't swap.

No issue in FL, but you my be committing a felony in the mean time. Maybe not.

The MSP list is not actually a legal list. They even state that it is not legally binding.

Hmm, could you give it back to your friend, as it was LOANED to you. And then when you move, he ships it to an FL FFL for transfer there.

I'm no lawyer but it seems like some people must allow their property to be searched by the authorities on a regular basis to be so worried about getting in trouble for something they own. Our 4th amendment(and 5th amendment) are very good things.

Let me see if I am following this correctly. The firearm was given to you in 2011. For the past 6 years you weren't concerned about FSA2013. You are moving out of state in 3 years and are suddenly worried about someone coming to get the firearm that no one, until now, knew you had?
