    Hi gang... as I'm getting my wife's shotgun ready for turkey hunting and because I just bought a 887 for myself to play with, I figured while I had both of them out of their boxes I should take pictures of them so you can see the differences between the two models. Enjoy

    Even though the 887 looks beefier, the 870 is a little heavier.

    that 887 looks really evil... :o) what's the weight difference between the two? are the internals the same?

    have you shot the 887? I have had some issues with mine where depending upon the ammo I have to push forward after chambering to fire, otherwise it doesn't.

    The bathroom scale comparison, the 870 a smidge under a pound heavier. For what that's worth. :)

    I picked the 887 this past week so I've had no range time with it. I have cycled 2 3/4 shells threw it many times and it certainly likes to be manhandled, but my wife's 870 does too.

    When I get the chance to get to the range, I'll update this thread.

    Isn't the 887 essentially an 870 with a different coating? I think it might be able to shoot a 3.5" load, but otherwise I think the internals are the same.

    887 has a polymer receiver IIRC.
