Thank you for the input. I found a 9mm bcg with forward assist serrations for $99 on sale. I want to use an upper with a forward assist bc I like the way they look. I have already assembled one AR, so I have or have access to the tools needed. I don't have a bore scope like DA has though ;) I've never heard about the low mass 9mm hammer, so that's good info to know. Thank you for the help

I use my bore scope for lots of things, not just looking inside cylinders that have a hole in them. :innocent0

I ordered some 80% lowers and an upper from Thunder Tactical 15 days ago. Still waiting for them to ship it.

I ordered a blem 9mm bcg and 7" finned SS barrel combo from Spinta Precision for $159 and it took less than a week to arrive. Also, whatever blemish is on the bcg isn't obvious. I'll have to inspect it further to see what it is.

After pricing decent quality components for an AR9 build I decided to just buy one from Hanover Armory. $799 guaranteed forever. I could have built one using lower grade parts (some from China) for $100 less but to use American made, decent components It would have cost right around the same amount...

Also check out kaw valley precision. I just finished a 9mm build last month and used their barrel, bolt, buffer, and hanguard with spikes upper and lower recievers. I am very pleased with the build but my lrbho only worked after first mag dump, I have to get that bug out yet.

Most times a shaving of the buffer 'bumper' is needed. Just go slow.

Tested my CMMG vs my other 9mm AR.
    Suppressor: Gemtech 9mm Multimount
    Ammo: Freedom Munitions 147g Hush

    Gun 1:
    DDLES lower
    5” TROS 3-lug barrel
    Colt pattern mags
    CMMG 9mm BCG
    9Q 8.5 ounce heavy buffer
    Tubbs .308 AR spring

At the muzzle: 10 shots average - 114.6 dB.
At the ejection port: 10 shots average - 113.2 dB

    Gun 2
80% lower (same as CMMG uses)
    Glock mags
8” CMMG barrel w CMMG bolt (Guard/radial delayed)
JP 9mm captured spring with 4 tungsten weights

Average at muzzle (10 shots) - 114.4 dB
Average at ejection port (10 shots) - 116.3 dB

My mistake: grabbed HK mags instead of Glock so did not have a mag in on
    The second rifle.

The felt recoil on the CMMG build was notably lighter. You can feel the reciprocating mass on rifle #1. Gonna play with the weights in the CMMG build and see if I can lessen ejection port bark.

when i put in a empty mag and pull back the charging handle the bolt will stay open. For some reason it won't after shooting the last round whats your thought on that ?

In a DI gun, I would think over-gassing/high bolt speed, but we're talking about blow-back. What kind of action spring do you have in there? Is the lower a Colt design or a Glock? Dedicated or hag block?

BTW, my QC5 can't lock back when empty because of the design.

My lower is a dedicated glock mag from spikes.I am using a standard carbine spring, i was wonder if i should chang it to something heavier

Yeah, you're probably getting too much bolt speed. I use spike's ST-9X heavy buffer and Tubb AR10 Buffer spring. That should slow things down for ya.
