It's "Citizen," not "Civilian"
Cross-posted from SOMD.
Tonight, I prepared a precinct by putting up signs on the approach roads and parking lot, being careful to stay 100 feet from the doors of the polling place.
For the first time in my life, tomorrow I will be a registered election monitor at a local precinct. I'm sorry we need such a thing in Maryland, or in the United States, but apparently we do.
I have a 13-hour shift tomorrow, both outside and inside the building. I am happy to do it because I had much longer than a 13-hour shift waiting in line multiple times to testify in Annapolis. I waited more than that long to be told by Brian Frosh that I couldn't testify.
I waited more than that long to testify before Chairman Vallario's committee, only to be given 3 minutes, which were subsequently ignored in the face of Bloomberg's money, filtered through O'Malley.
I'm putting my time where my mouth is because I still hold out some hope that we can make them respond to us by having them lose elections as a result of their callous disregard for a large part of the populace.
I still believe in the Vox Populi.
Please help me by coming out to vote tomorrow if you haven't already. Nothing would make me happier than to see precincts full of like-minded voters doing their civic duty and sending a message to the pols that they ignore us at their peril.
Fill up those precinct parking lots with MDS-stickered pickups, SUVs, and cars. I will be flying my MDS flag from a silver Toyota at District 8, Precinct 8, the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. I'd love to see you there.
It's 2014. It's time. Do your thing, shooters.
