  • I have flashlights in my bug out bag, drawers, backpacks, basement, cars...I think I have 6 working ones and 2 that need batteries changed out.

I was out shopping today and ended up buying another two (medium size and one almost as long as a night stick). So, that totals to 10.

I use them when I hike, walk the dog, check the sump pump...

Do I have too many flashlights? How many flashlights do you think you need?

Got a couple of various length Maglites and even a couple of my old GI flashlights. Like to keep one in the bedroom, kitchen, laundry room. Also a few lanterns. Only problem is remembering to rotate out the old batteries and stock up on new ones beforehand.

You definitely need one with a strobe setting, you want them to get a few frames of stop action as you aim your weapon of choice at them. It's also fun to use with your SO in a strip tease.

    Many.

I would say the coolest ones I picked up? Lithium and plugged in 24/7 like a night lite that isn't on. When power fails? They light up and boom you are gold for 12 hours.
Yes, my generator is a manual switch over.

It sounds like the ones that you can buy that are compatible with the cordless rechargeable drill/tools. I have dewalt and milwaukee and I think I can buy a compatible light that works with the same lithium batteries. You are right, they stay charged and when you need them, they will be good for hours.

Great idea. I think I'll go shopping again. Since everyone here says you always need one more ;)

I'm a flashlight junkie myself. Mini and 6 cell Maglites, and sizes in between. Strap on lights, clip on lights, hat visor mounted lights, glove lights, NRA and other promotional lights. LED lights and flood lights.

And of course, for this light that would be perfect right now, I'm out of batteries.

I got a FlatEye F2100 a few years ago and it’s the best flashlight I’ve ever owned. I think I paid $90 on massdrop.com but they are $150 now.

What is great about this thing is it would work as a billy club too if you ever needed to use it that way.

I started my career on midnights. I ALWAYS had 2 lights on me at a minimum and a 3rd in the car. When I was last in patrol I worked evening shift and had a light on my vest, one on my gun and my maglite in the car. Now that I'm investigations I have a headlamp (for search warrants) and 2 flashlights in the car. Like someone else said, you can never have too many! While I don't have a crank or pump style flashlight right now, I probably have over a dozen flashlights between home, work car and RV. A couple nicer ones, mostly cheap battery ones.

I have one in every room of the house, three in the basement (by each door), two in each vehicle, one in each equipment bag and suitcase and at least one on my person at all times.

I became paranoid when I went through fire fighting training some years back. I want to survive if anything catches fire I'm going to crawl out of it. :party29:

I have one on my nightstand and several throughout the house as well.

I also carry one in my pocket on every flight I take and I keep it beside my bed when staying in the hotel.

Make sure the flashlights are LED. That is all I use now. Nice and bright not like the old technology.

I have flashlights everywhere in the house.

All are LED, and I suggest stoking them with lithium batteries. While they have maybe 20% less amp/hour capacity than alkaline batteries, they have much longer shelf life, around a decade or more, which is better for something sitting around like a fire extinguisher waiting to, ideally, never be used, but must work if it is needed.
