So I'm currently in the process of going the NFA rout to build an SBR. Hopefully in about 6 months I'll have my stamp and finish my build. Then let's say 2 years from now I get orders to California (non NFA state). Rather than sell the entire rifle as an NFA item, can I just break it down to individual components and sell them off? I'm pretty sure this can be done with everything but the lower receiver. Would the lower now be classified as a Class 3, even tho it's not complete? Let's say I want to keep the lower, would I be able to take the striped lower to California as a regular receiver as long as it has all the California compliment features? Also, can you even sell a lower with your trust, county an state engraved on it? Essentially what I'm asking is, once the rifle is broken down and the receiver is striped, is it still considered an sbr? And if so, how do you legally decommission an SBR receiver? Specifically one that has the trust engraving stuff on it?
