I remember hearing about them but, never saw one. Surplus Mauser's were plentiful back in '98 so the price was thought to be rather high. Just imagine what it would cost to manufacture one of those '98's today!

That was my first thought as well. The immediately makes the peg on my meter jump to from "really want" to "don't want" if so.

Absolutely zero chance Mitchell's was involved at all.
Clearly these are new made rifles not a Mitchell's trademark refurb.
Not sure Mitchell's was even in business in '98 besides the Mauser trademark would not be loaned to a shyster outfit like them anyway.

    Yup, these were Mauser-built rifles...

"Mauser introduces four special series of the Model 98 for the Mauser 100-year anniversary: A limited edition collectors series of the imperial 98 infantry rifle and the 98K carbine and 2 special series of the Magnum big game rifles in 1930s style limited to 100 units each (.375 Holland & Holland and .416 Rigby)."

    Supposedly 1998 of them built.
    No taint of Mitchells involved.

Heck, the ad in the OP is even in German!

Would love to have one as a range gun next to my original.
