    If I suggested a heatpump style (VERY effecient) unit I'm sure people's heads would spin.....

    You should be able to get a quality tank installed by a reputable plumber for about $1100.

    Only problem with tankless is cost. Cost is so high that ROI is never. You're mostly paying for novelty.

    I just had my 13 year old bulders' grade gas water heater replaced last Spring...

    I used BG&E Home...

    The guy did a beautiful installation including the newly required expansion tank & a few other code update requirements (Baltimore County)...

    Total installation time = 2 hours...

    Excellent Service...

    40 gallon = $1100.xx with 6 months interest free...
