My father recently mentioned wanting to move his delta point pro red dot over to his 1911. I said it shouldn't be hard to find a mount for the red dot to fit into the dovetail slot. The only issue is the gun isn't a dovetail. What style of mount is this called? It's on a S&w performance center 1911 if that matters.

That is a proprietary cut. Wilson uses something similar or the same, I forget which. New slide, have this one machined or try a different pistol with the rear sight cut appropriate for the sight mount.

Call S&W, they might have a mount to accomodate a mount for the sight.

Thanks for the quick reply. I previously mentioned having the slide cut for the right mount but he said he didn't want to have work done to the gun to alter its condition.
