Chicago Tribune OK with suppressors

I haven't seen this posted yet (but dupe me if i miseed it)....found a link to a surprisingly fair if tepid editorial from the Chicago Tribune advocating for the new Hearing Protection Act (ie treating suppressors like normal firearms, not NFA items) making its way through congress.

Not that any of us need to be convinced, but it's just nice to see a major newspaper in a liberal eutopia making logical sense.

If this passes does this mean we can make our own with no paperwork like we can manufacture an AR lower with no paperwork? And use oil filters, etc?

That's a surprisingly great article from a Chicago paper. However, the comments to the article were pretty much what I expected.

CNN reports that this legislation will remove the $200,000 tax on suppressors. Have you guys paid your $200,000 tax?

Matches right up with what a Liberal in my lab said about suppressors.

"If you own a suppressor, you're probably up to no good."

It's amazing that otherwise intelligent people can be so incapable of just applying a little logic to emotionally charged topics.
