You might have to do some internet detective work but I heard a rumor that a carbon fiber arrowshaft does the same thing roughly.

When I was a kid we used aluminum arrow shafts. Even kept them in a quiver with corks on top.

There is a commercial loader available. EZ Loader if I remember right.

    Sorry, it's a Spee D Loader

Yes, I use that Spee D Loader:

I have the 8 tube/15 round Spee D coming from SG. Thought for $2 a piece I might try the ones on ebay too. Just wanted some opinions first. Think I'll go ahead and get them. Can't have too many toys ya know :)

I remember when the shooting gallery on the Ocean City Boardwalk used tubes to load 22 shorts into the gallery guns. Different times!

Yep, and at the fair too. There would be bucket filled with those tubes.

I have several tube reloading tools. The are made of plastic and have ten cavities of either 10 or 19 rounds. To load, you turn the cap to a full tube and pour it into your tubular magazine. I think I bought them from Sportsmans Guide. The work great. The 10 round model is more compact for carrying in the field.

    Found this link.

    Thanks John.

One of the forums from that search had a diy speed loader thread which led to https://www.mcmaster.com/ items (10) 2044T41 and (1) 9753K16 which will yield (30) 15 round tubes for $20. Or I can cut them to whatever length I want to fit in specific cases or range bags.

Yay, new toys to play with !

Wish I had been around for those times. Like when schools had gun clubs too.

One of my favorite Andy Griffith episodes was when Oppie went to the fair and tried to win something for his dad at the shooting gallery. The guys gave him a gun with a bent sight and took all his money. When Andy found out about it he went and taught them a lesson about ripping off people and made sure they gave Oppie an honest gun when he came back to try again.

Back in '71, I was based in Colorado and downtown Denver had a .22 shooting arcade. My friend and I went there to shoot and found that most of the sights were off. We asked the owner if we could adjust them and he said sure. We not only adjusted all the sights, we gave all those Win 62's a good cleaning. A couple of weeks later, he told us business was up because people could hit what they were aiming at. From then on he let us shoot for free whenever we were in the area.

Ahh, "those were the days" for sure.

Get the big (milkshake) type drinking straws. I seal one end with a lighter and put seven rounds in them and a piece of electrical tape over the top. Two to fill the magazine... they work great, cost almost nothing, and fit in your back pocket without any problem.

The nice thing about straws is not just that they are cheap, but that if they get crimped or bent a little they still work. They are single use anyway.

Got the Spee-D and it's okay. A little "thick" so you can't get it straight as it bumps into the barrel, but the end fits over the tube which makes it pretty easy. Also it's 120 rounds in a nice compact package. Overall pleased. Will see how it does "in the field".

Also got my single tubes made. The caps shouldn't come off but I glued one end anyways and then spray painted the other so it'll be a no brainer which end to uncap.
